This past Wednesday, we had the opportunity to interview Algirdas Kauspedas, lead singer of the band Antis. Antis, a main performer at the Roko Marsai of the late 1980's, was a major part of musical scene in the protest against Soviet occupation in Lithuania. Later this week we will have an extended blog post about the Roko Marsai so make sure you check that out!
We had a great discussion with Algirdas and look forward to speaking with him again soon!
Also this past Thursday, we had the opportunity to sit down with Ginte Damusyte, Ambassador for relations with the World Lithuanian Community.
In addition to this post, Ginte, in addition to this post, worked at the New York Sajudis office, was part of the establishment of the Lithuanian Mission to the United Nations from 1991 to 1996, the head of the Lithuanian delegation to Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), the NATO Permanent Representative of Lithuania, and the Lithuanian ambassador to Canada.
Along with her work in the Lithuanian freedom movement, we also discussed the amazing things her father, Adolfas Damusis, did for the Lithuanian community. It was a wonderful discussion and we hope to speak with her again soon!
